What is EMDR?

It is a specialized psychotherapy technique that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories.

It aims to reduce intense emotions, sensations, and negative thoughts associated with past traumatic events.

What is an EMDR intensive?

EMDR Intensives process a traumatic memory in a safe, therapeutic environment in longer blocks of time than a traditional therapy session.

Often people can’t tap into the most painful aspects of a traumatic experience in less than an hour. Having a session that is 3-4 hours allows for these emotions to surface in a safe environment, and integrate those memories allowing healing to happen faster.

An intensive is a 3-4 hour session each day, lasting 1-4 days

What are the benefits of an intensive?

Research suggests that intensives may help integrate trauma faster than traditional therapy allows for, ultimately giving someone increased freedom in their life.

The main focus is on relieving your symptoms, while teaching your nervous system how to regulate differently than it has in the past

Intensives reduce the need to take off work for weekly sessions

Up front costs are higher for intensives, but with the shorter duration of therapy it may save you money over the total course of treatment
